Course Description:

Biophilia, in psychology and biology, means “love for life”, our innate emotional tendency to connect with Nature. By studying and understanding biophilia and Biophilic Design, you will be able to create innovative and comfortable environments for your clients.

Numerous studies show that applying Biophilic Design can have a positive impact on space users by reducing stress, stimulating creativity and clarity of thought, and improving psychophysical and psychosocial wellbeing.

American biologist Edward O. Wilson, who published the book Biophilic Hypothesis in 1993, defined biophilia in 2002 as:
“The innate tendency to focus our attention on life forms and everything that reminds us of them, and, in certain circumstances, to emotionally connect with them.”

This course will allow you to discover the fundamental concepts of Biophilic Design and apply them to projects in the initial phase, under development, or in need of environmental improvements, both individual and collective.
